PTA Welcome letter 2022--2023
Parent Teacher Association (PTA) welcome letter to families:
9/30/2022
On behalf of the Forest Park School PTA, welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
For those of you who are new to the Forest Park School, we are looking forward to meeting you and helping
you become a part of the school community! Together we can show our children that they are valued and
loved by providing them with a fun-filled and enriching year.
For those returning parents, we thank you for your ongoing support without which we would not be able to
continue to provide a supportive and positive environment for our students. The ability of our PTA to
supplement our children’s day-to-day instruction is a result of the commitment and efforts of ALL its members,
and we simply cannot do it without you.
There are several ways you can support your children at PS 97:
1. Attend the Monthly PTA Meetings Check the website at http://www.ps97q.com and look for “PTA
Meeting Dates.” The meetings are held on Zoom and generally on the third Wednesday of the month.
At each meeting you will be able to meet with your fellow PTA members and the Principal and hear
about what is happening at the school. Also, the Principal hosts the monthly Student Recognition
ceremonies.
2. Volunteer You can make a difference at the Forest Park School. Help in any way you can, big or small.
There will be opportunities for volunteering at fundraising events throughout the year. Fundraising
projects will include events like: photo day, the holiday bazaar and lunch-time pop-up shops. These
events are great opportunities to feel connected to your child’s school. Learn about volunteer
opportunities by attending monthly meetings or emailing the PTA leadership at ps97pta@gmail.com.
3. Join the SLT or Just Attend the Meetings The Forest Park School, like all NYC Public Schools, has
an elected team of parents and teachers whose job is to provide collaboration and input into the
school’s comprehensive education plan. Consider running for the SLT position, or just attend the
meetings thought the year to stay aware or your school’s progress. All SLT meeting dates are generally
at 2:30 P.M. on the third Thursday of the month, check the website at http://www.ps97q.com and look
for “SLT Meeting Dates.”
4. Join the PAC Committee or just attend the PAC meetings Because we are a Title I school we have
a special opportunity to support our families with special activities with our Title I funding. This
committee plans these activities such as family reading activities with free books, family crafts like hot
cocoa balls and pop-up cards, daddy daughter hair styling and much, much more. Help create a
support network for our families and have lots of fun with the PAC committee.
We are looking forward to a great year for our children!
